From their web site, www.comstockrecords.com: "A label is only as good as its artists and Comstock is proud that it has the best. In 1998 Comstock was awarded Indie label of the year in Europe by the ECMA. In the words of one DJ...Comstock has succeeded because of its quality - it's the Mercedes of Indie labels!"

New CD Press Release

PRESS RELEASE: ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

WARRENTON SINGER/SONGWRITER RELEASES NEW ALL-ORIGINAL CD, “BEEN THERE”

Brooksie Wells, veteran children’s musician and mother of two, returns to her country and rock roots with a new CD, celebrated with a CD release party October 22, at the Bleu Rock Inn in Washington, Va., 7-10 p.m. Recorded in her Warrenton home studio, she combined local talent with well-known old friends from her early days in the music business, both to perform and produce the recording. She then called on Sperryville’s Oasis Recording to manufacture the finished product.
Discovered by Bobby Darin, Brooksie wrote for years for Chapel Music, with several of her songs used in recordings and movie soundtracks. She later performed with John Lennon's band Elephant's Memory and as a singer with Kid Creole and the Coconuts. (Kid Creole’s recording “Off The Coast Of Me” has just been re-released on Island Records.)
While raising two kids in the early 1990s she became an international children's performer, recording "Rainbow Family" and "Brooksie's Kid Songs."
Returning to her singing and songwriting roots, she released "Call It A Day" in the late '90s to critical acclaim, and has now released the long-awaited "Been There," an album of twelve all-original alt.country songs.
The musicians on the album include Larry Williams, keyboardist and arranger for Al Jarreau; Rickie Simpkins, fiddler for the Tony Rice Unit, Lee Ann Womack, and many others; Jeff Severson, guitarist formerly of Four Out Of Five Doctors; and Peter Roaman, bassist for New York City’s The Cool Jerks.
Local artists include Sven Bridstrup, former drummer for The Cravin’ Dogs; Lisa Kay Howard, mandolin player and vocalist with Flyin’ Blind Bluegrass; Dontez Harris, multi-instrumentalist with the Black Sheep and music teacher at Sperryville’s Hearthstone school; Lucille Ball, vocalist with Medicine Wheel; and Candace Miller, vocalist with the Piedmont area’s Camerata Cantores. Wendy Pepper, Middleburg, Va., designer who appeared on Bravo’s “Project Runway” designed the silk shirt Brooksie wears on the album cover.
For more information and bookings, contact Lisa Kay Howard at 540-270-2875 or visit www.brooksiewells.com.
